I served in support of the 75th Rangers both 1st and 3th Bn. While assigned with the 82nd Airborne Div from 79 to 81. There is no other units that display heart and soul like the 82nd and the Rangers. I only wish, I could have been assigned directly to a Ranger Unit but some things just were not in the plans. I finish Ranger school in 1976 and never look back so continue to lead the way and always stay out front.

Linkup with a former 3rd Bat Ranger Ryan Primero in Atlanta, GA last year (Afgan & Iraqi combat vet) and later he went on the private sector and just got back from a EP contract in Iraq. Still remember those holidays away from home, remember those rangers in your prayers doing their thing as we did during our time. Different names, different time period but the same rangers wrap in poncho liners giving "our" chance to be with our families during holiday season,..God bless them all and keep them! 1st/75th B Co, 2nd Platoon 1978-81 In the days when we were the 1st RIP class at Sabre Hall, during the rule if CSM Morrel and LTC Stringham. I ran with Gardner and 1st Sgt Grenier when we were privates........ we called Grenier "OZZY" I was the RTO for a long friggin time. It blew my knees out but I showed up for PT with dual metal knee braces for the cherries to look at in the end. I had my share of trouble but back then they kept you if you were good. I hated leg land and the 2 by 4. They sent me to SCUBA School as a PFC. Told me not to come back if I did not graduate.......Drop me a line

Hey Guess What, I just got home from Montana!! I have a friend that was moving back to Montana from my neighborhood. She had to get her 3 kids, everything in her house and 2 vehicals moved by herself. Her husband is a truckdriver and was sent back east on a run. So she asked me if I would drive the U-haul towing her car on a trailer for her. I told her only if there was room for my Harley in the U-haul. Well it all worked out. It took us 2 1/2 days to get there. We got to Ryegate, Montana at midnight on October 14th and I was on my way back home at noon on the 15th. I road 863 miles in 2 days!!(hooahh) Its was GREAT. I road my scooter over the Continentel Devide YAAA. I did it Bouncer... No helment and No worries. I finally got to take that long putt that we never got to do together. Well we were together all the way Baby... No matter what happens in your life don't ever let your dreams die... Love You All Valerie Morey

I'm currently the Company SGM for C/3/20 Special Forces, Florida National Guard. Don't be fooled about us weekend warriors, we finished a successful eight month rotation in Afghanistan in Jun 04. CPL Tillman was killed in a valley that I was on patrol in about three weeks prior to his death. Mike Robardey, Bill Portis was my Squad leader and Steve Matoon was my PSG back in the day. So Rudy if you can get away from making babies and the rest of you from grilling steaks out on the back yard give me a line. thanks to all who served and a special prayer to those presently serving if any have a special prayer request send me an e-mail my wife and I get on our knees every night in prayer--God Speed RTL Bobby Cantu inf75@hotmail.com

When you are young and stupid, you can make mistakes like i.e.terminating your status because chain of comm. says you can't deploy because you don't have enough drawers to load in your D-Bag. Nor do you find out until too blessed late that E-2's can get a signature loan at Main Post for $400.00.I offered to borrow money from a leader and sign in blood, too! NoGo. Got mad (19yrs.old what do you expect)and terminated my status.I decided they didn't need me as bad as they said if I get to deploy but with a bunch of whiners who caved minute 1 of day 1.So I could help with pots & pans.WRONGO BONGO,bud.I served 6yrs. I would & may very well serve again.I learned a lot in a very short time at Battalion. If you lie down with dogs you get fleas. For the most part fleas are extinct at Battalion/Regiment.And I credit the training for having saved my life in places you can only pronounce if you Se Habla Espanol.I pray that every swingin'Richard still gets "CRUSHED"or "SMOKED"and hand to hand ,close quarters fighting is still taught.I miss being around squared away individuals;Squared Away, that's the main thing I learned as a Ranger.

Nice site for a gathering of LRRP/Rangers. I do take offense at the terrible things written by Gary Linder. In "Eye of the Eagle he was very insulting to others. I SERVED IN THE 1ST.BN.(RANGER)75TH.INF. FROM 1978-1981. BACK THEN YOU HAD TO GO THROUGH ROPE, BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR FLASH AND UNIT CREST ON YOUR BERET. I REMEMBER SGM. MORRELL AND LT. COL. SMOKING JOE STRINGHAM. CPT. GRANGE. WAS A VERY TOUGH COMPANY COMMANDER. I MET SOME OF THE BEST SOLDIERS IN THE ARMY. I ENJOYED MY TIME IN THE BN. THE WORST THING THAT YOU COULD TELL A RANGER, WE ARE GOING TO SEND YOU TO LEG LAND. WE USE TO CALL IT THE 2 BY 4. 24TH INF DIV. HOW MANY RANGERS REMEMBER THOSE DAYS. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY HELLO TO ALL RANGERS THAT SPENT TIME, IN ANY RANGER UNIT. I HAVE SINCE THEN RETIRED A 100% DISABLED VETERAN. HOOAAAAH. IF I HAD TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. I WOULD. FOR MY COUNTRY.

When I left 2nd BN I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I just want to take a moment to reflect on that, and perhaps influence the choice of other Rangers who may feel the same way. I don't regret my choice, however, I miss the caliber of men that I worked with on a regular basis there. Life is difficult for a Ranger, but there is no where else that I've been assigned since that has such a high per-capita of dedicated proffessionals. This is not to say that there are not terriffic individuals elsewhere in the U.S. Army, because there are, but they're just easier to find in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

I wish there was a way to show it other than words. Any way, I was just looking for some photos that may have been posted, and I was wondering if someone could help me find an old family friend. I have just recently, well for almost a year, had the oppurtunity to get to know and become friends with some of the greatest guys I will probably ever meet. These men (Rangers), most of which are so young(19-to early 20s) have proven there courage and loyalty to their country in ways I could never imagine experiencing or understanding. I don't know how to explain in good words how different i've seen that Rangers are than any other group of people out there. They have this unique pride and strength that just pours out of them with every breath they take. Their bond with each other, their "brothers", will never break, that's obvious and their relationship with one another still amazes me everyday. These guys are so special and I am so happy I know this many so personally, even though That makes things I hear and see, both good and bad, touch my heart so deeply at times I can't breath. I'd rather feel these things (the pain and heartache, the extreme worrying, and the happiness so great it hurts) than to have never been able to meet human beings so selfless. I just felt like speaking to ya'll from my heart and sharing my experiences with having Rangers in my life. I have been fortunate enough to fall in love with an amazing man that makes me so proud every second of everyday. I also have had the privelage of becoming friends with and getting to know some of,what I believe to be, America's heros( men who have chosen a job and life that helps and protects so many people they will never know). I thank God for ALL the men and women protecting us and those that have done so in the past. To all of ya'll God Bless and Protect. love ya'll, Erin (Ranger Girlfriend)

I took Ranger Robert "Bob" Villant to the reunion at Seattle,WA. He was an honored Ranger at the Dinning in or ball. Ranger Villant was in the 5TH Ranger Battalion during World War II. One other WWII Ranger Battalion Veteran was present and made a static line jump that Saturday, Ranger Defoe, is 83. Both Rangers are exception for men in there 80's. May God grant us this youth in our 80's. Ranger's from the Korean War era were also there. To my Ranger Buddies from E51LRP-G75RGR It was great spending time at the reunion with you guys. Ranger Sergeant Richard Lett codename: "Toy Lett" was present and accounted for after 36 years of battling war related illness and pain. SGT Lett, dressed in his dress green uniform and current beret. He was honored along with his wife and son by all who met them. SGT Lett was in E51LRP-G75RGR 68-69 and served in Chu Lai, Duc Pho, Tam Ky. SGT(RET) Rick Lett swore he would make the Fort Benning Reunion in the future, He attended Jump school and NCOES at Fort Benning, GA. To the Rangers serving in 2ND Battalion SGT Figaroa and his men thank you for your candor and service to the nation and to the 2nd Battalion for opening your doors to us old timers. It was great telling lies, I mean, war stories with you all, as one of our ladies said; "They are so sexy with their hard bodies". Thank You all. To the Vietnam era Rangers of LRRP-LRP-Ranger units, fellows you all are a sight for sore eyes it was great. See you at Benning. By the way, we need more jumpers during these reunion. Cowboy up and get on the bird, garentee the chutes are better than 30 years ago. To the 3780TH Special Reconnaissance LRRP Company guys, it was a pleasure being in your company. I don't know what slots are available, but I know he will do what he can to accommodate and LRRPs, Rangers (veterans and currently serving) and their families for our first annual tournament on morning of Aug. 2. More information is available in the just out issue of "Patrolling". The Ft. Lewis course is rated as the "sixth best military golf course open to the public" and it should be a good time. Cost is only $50.00 and includes the prize fund. Bring your sticks (golf, not C-4) and hope to see you there. Hoooaaahhh. RLTW --Dave

I attended the 30th Anniversary Celebration and Ranger Ball for 1st/75th RGR. BN. last week in Savannah, GA. It was extremely great. There were quite a few Rangers from the activation back in '74. Rich Negrete, Laws, Toney, Mashburn, Murphy, Acebes, Cobb, Schremcofth, Brown. A few of us from the later years, late 70's early 80's. Spears, Lewis, Dave Thomas, Williams, Coats, Swann. Some from Eagle Claw, Urgent Fury, Just Cause, Desert Storm. Of course the current Rangers. I apologize in advance for missing any names. It was great to see old friends, Savannah, and the 1st/75th. Next year will be the 25th Anniversary of Opn. Eagle Claw. You old Charlie Co. 1/75 Rangers from 1980 need to show up. RLTW, Jim Kinney

Hello, I served in 2/503 Inf. Abn and in Casper Flight Platoon 173rd Abn .Bde (SEP). During that time I was a door gunner and participated in many extractions and insertions of November and Charlie Rangers. I was priveledged to extract CSM Patrick Tadina, then SSgt, on a number of occassions. Jimmy Akuna was in his team. Jimmy and I went to AIT and Airborne School together. We had a close call when we extracted a re-enforced radio relay team from a moutain top in the Fishhook region of the An Lao Valley about three in the morning. My bird was the last in and we came under ground assault. Fun, fun, fun. Rangers do lead the way. Thanks for the great missions and I would do anything to do it all over again. John Potts

Served in the 14th Airborne Ranger Infantry Company (Abn.) I was also Special Forces for 10 + years. I belong to RICA and WAR. This is a nice web site, however; I didn't think that the Korean war Ranger Companies (Ranger Units) was covered that well. We had patches too! We also were the first AIRBORNE Rangers! There were also other battles that the Ranger companies took a large role in. The 1st Ranger Inf. Co. assigned to the 2nd ID had some significant battles. The 4th Ranger Inf. Co. as well as the 2nd Inf. Co. (All black) made the combat jump mentioned in the Ranger unit site. I didn't see an invite to Korean War Rangers to the currant reunion...did I miss it? One of your guest speakers (Kiet Nguyen) asked me if I was going to attend and I will have to tell him I wasn't invited.

Let him look around in there at the pictures any names and see if any of them are those with whom he served. He can also post in the guest book and invite responses from anyone. I shared a wild evening with 6 other Rangers at the PUB on North Fort Lewis and I hope Ranger Cole comes so we can reminisce. Look forward to meeting young and old. The 1st Infantry Division’s LRRP/LRP/Ranger veterans of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association must regretfully advise other members of the recent passing of former Co.F/52nd Inf. (LRP) member and Team Leader (TL), Robert Paul Elsner. We were advised that Paul died of cardiac arrest, apparently brought on by kidney failure, on June 24, 2004.He died near Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, where he had worked for many years. He was only 56. Paul was a charter member of Co.F/52nd Inf. (LRP). He volunteered for LRRPs in late 1967, transferring from his initial assignment as a machine-gunner in the Big Red One’s 2nd Bn/2nd Inf. (Mech). He was soon a graduate of the MACV Recondo School and began running missions in late 1967. He was constantly in heavy action, the veteran of countless long range patrol missions, until he DEROS’d in late 1968. He became an Assistant Team Leader (ATL) on Team Wildcat 2 in early 1968, and in May 1968, he became its Team Leader (TL). As a member of Team Wildcat 2 during that period, I was privileged to serve under and with both Paul and our previous TL, Ronnie Luse. Paul was a skilled, innovative, courageous and steadfast warrior and leader. Among his many exploits as a LRP, was his leading our team out of a trap on June 18, 1968, without a loss, culminating in our team’s extraction on the outside of a Cobra gunship. During the course of his Vietnam tour, Paul was awarded the Silver Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster for Second Award), the Bronze Star Medal (with V device), and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB) for his Vietnam service. He was a natural born LRRP and would not have had it any other way. Paul was a man of many interests and devout beliefs right to the end. He was extremely active in veterans’ rights issues and had just initiated a PTSD recovery program designed to help veterans, such as him, who still suffered from PTSD. As always, he was thinking of his brother veterans and their welfare. Paul is survived by his only living relative, his son Joshua. I know I speak for all the veterans in our unit when I say that Paul was our cherished Teammate, Friend and Brother and all of we and the rest of the LRRP/Ranger community will sadly miss him. Good Ranger Information: When someone tells me he was a Ranger, I ask which unit? They refer the unit as the 75TH Rangers or He was in E Company (LRP), 50TH Infantry (Abn); or G Company 75TH (Ranger). During 1965-1967 the unit should be referred to as "Infantry (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) Detachment (Provisional)(Airborne)"; From 1967-1969 the companies should be referred as "what ever Company (Long Range Patrol), (Airborne), what ever Infantry". 1969-1972 the unit should be referred as for example: P Company (RANGER),(Airborne), 75TH Infantry, if requiring a trailing unit it can include the major command i.e. 25TH Infantry Division For the early (L.R.R.P.)units the disbandenment ended it there because of the (Provisional) claus. For the DA (L.R.P.)units the trailer is 75TH Ranger Infantry (Combat Arms Regimental System). The activation of the 75TH Infantry (CARS)was to parent the (L.R.P.) units as it's regiment during consolidation on 1 January 1969. Both LRRP and LRP Soldiers are RANGERS as was stated by the Secretary of the US Army and shall be address as such. THe units as Detachments and Companies are LRRP, LRP, RANGER and were Airborne. The 75TH Infantry was not Airborne, the reference to it being (RANGER) is excepted due to it Commando status as Long Range Penetration (Special) or (LRPS). In 1985 the regiment was officially dubbed (RANGER) as the 75TH (RANGER) RGT. Prior to 1969 the unit was referred to as "Ranger-type or Ranger Like" units. A little true family history. RLTW From 1943-1945 the unit was called a (Provisional)Marauder Force performing Light Infantry and Special Functions deep(LRPS), 1965-1972 the 75TH Infantry Regiment moved from the 75TH (RANGER)Infantry (CARS) performing LRRP and LRP missions, to Light Infantry and Special Operations missions in 1974-1985. In the search to find a place in the US Army the regiment was finally granted as the 75 (RANGER) REGIMENT by the Secretary. Under CARS the unit had NO Headquarters of their own and the attached status to a major command continued from Vietnam through the 1970's and into 1980's ending in 1985. So what you say? Well, let me tell you, 75TH CARS needs to be counted on the lineage of the 75TH RGR RGT. Why because that is the true lineage of today's 75TH Ranger Regiment.

Served with Troop E 17th Cav, 173d LRP Platoon in 1966. Patrolled with Larry Cole who is signed in below. Left in Dec as Jakovenko's Asst Team Leader, I was replaced by Reed Cundiff. It was a great honor to serve with guys so dedicated and reliable. You guys will always be thought of in the highest regard. Hopefully in a year or two my wife and I will move to a different part of the country and traveling will be easier. Then I will be able to see you guys again at the re-unions.

Ranger Williams Bravo Co. 1/75 Ranger Bn. HAAF Savannah, GA. 1980-1983 Berlin Brigade 1983-1984 - - Warning – this is an alert call! I am reporting in from Berlin, Germany. The situation here is one of concern. There are a lot of Muslims living here. And they have one thing in common, their hatred for Americans. It is no accident that the sep.11 attacks were planed by terrorist living in Hamburg, Germany. If there are nineteen terrorists living in Hamburg, then there are 119 in Berlin. I work for an international company in Germany that employ workers from places such as Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Africa, Poland, Turkey, Iraq, Morocco, U.S.A, and Europe. The majority of this people are Muslims. What I learned through my conversations/interactions with them (in the German language) is that 90% of them have respect for Bin Laden and 90% of them hate President Bush. The Bush Foreign polices in my opinion is 100% correct. We must fight the terrorist threat with ever thing that we have. The German Government is hoping that there will be no terrorist attacks in Germany because they are not a partner in the “coalition of the willing”. The Germans are acting out of fear. I have been living in Germany since 1983. I speak fluent German and I understand the political situation in the country. The Germans are following a policy of appeasement to Arabs, because they are fearful of the many muslins living in their towns and cities. There are whole district where muslins are in control and Germans are afraid to enter these parts of the city. It is only a matter of time that the terrorist will decide to take American prisoners in Europe. No one here is prepared for that eventuality. To be continued. Ranger William

Hooah!!! Great website. Looking forward to seeing my Ranger brothers at the 30th reunion this June/July 2004. Anyone know if Michael A. CArter is still alive? He was in Bn Commo in '78-79 then grew a wild hair on his "4th-poiny-of-contact" and went to SFQC at Ft. Bragg. I saw him at Ft. Bragg in an A-team in 5th SFG in '82 or '83. Rumor that he never made it out of the Sudan following that little bit of "nasty busineess" there in the mid 80's. A Delta operator in Afghanistan told me he thought MSG Carter was only wounded but still very much alive (and still puttin' those brewskies away like an old pro). Anyone know if Ranger Carter is okay?.....or does he now lay where he needs no blanket? I'd be much obliged for any legitimate news, but please don't blow any smoke up an old Ranger's tailpipes on this one. (No B.S., please!) Thanks.

This is a little off the standard for Guestbook entries... But it might help a few of you avoid a large or small loss from your bank account. A blue insert came with my Spring "Patrolling." It was a request for a few $$$$ to help with the 2nd RGR BN Ranger Ball on June 10th. I sent a check to help their HOOAH Fund. The check was stolen. The amount was rewritten as $900.00. The check was cashed using the name "Thomas Johnson." The forgery work looks like it was done by a retarded kid using crayons. It was cashed at Wells Fargo Bank, Tacoma. My bank will eventually return my money...But only because """I""" found the error. Banks never find these things. "You" must find the problems. Bottom line: IF YOU MAILED A "HOOAH CHECK," MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT STOLEN AND CHANGED. That SOB needs to be caught and dismembered...very slowly. As I sit here today thinking about the significance of Memorial day, the new WWII memorial, the current war and those that we lost in Nam, I must say that it is impossible not to wonder at the awful cost of it all. I have come to believe that war is evil, fundmentally and deeply evil. It will bring out the worst in mankind. I have also come to the inescapable conclusion that while war is evil, there are times when it is not the greatest evil. Our men and women in those times have always done the hard things. Lets not forget those who died, But those who live through the wars also carry with them many deep wounds. We are now bringing back many of those young soldiers with wounds on the inside. They also need our help and support. The have been immersed in the evil of war. They will never be the same. Thank you to all of you who served.

I was with the 127th Military Police Co, in and around Qui Nhon Vietnam Nov67-Nov68. I was a friend of SSG Robert "Bob" Patrick McCormick. Bob was with the Americal Division, but for some reason he was assigned to the 127th MP Co as some kind of liason. Since I was normally Patrol Supervisor, Bob would often ride on patrol with me so we got to be pretty good friends. Bob was shot up pretty badly in an ambush with an MP named Gene Young (Sgt E5), and died of wounds several days later at the 85th Evac Hospital in Qui Nhon. I visited Bob every day at the 85th Evac until he died on 8/27/68. Gene Young was also shot up pretty badly but recovered. Bob was a good man.

For all of you who made it home, welcome back, for those who didn't, rest in peace for eternity. I lost many friends in the different helicopter units that I was with, there is still hurt and saddness. A group of highly motivated, highly dedicated, and extremely loyal personnel partook on a mission that would forever change thier lives. Though it ultimately ended in disaster, Special Operations began a new chapter in history. Pause for a moment and remember the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice. We trained long and hard for this mission and we maintained an air of secrecy for 20 years after the fact. I made a Ranger reunion back in 2000 and General Grange (ret.) was the keynote speaker. It was at this Ranger Ball, that Operation Eagle Claw was recognized. I don't know if this was the first time the operation was brought up, but it was the first time for me and it brought closure to something that I have lived with for a number of years. We have so much to be thankful for and we must thank our Rangers as well as all of our fighting forces for doing their best. Rangers Lead The Way David H. Lewis

My heart goes out to Ranger Tillman's family. Although my husband did not die in combat, he would have preferred to go while fighting alongside his fellow Rangers. From everything I heard about Tillman, he sounded like the same kind of man that my husband was. The Bible says..."No man hath greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friend." Just listening to Fox News story of 75th Ranger Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan. He was an NFL player who turned down a $6 million contract to play football to become a ranger with the 75th. What an example. Guys like this show that there still is hope for the new breed of American. Sorry to hear of another ranger passing in combat.... I was a Huey pilot with B/75 at Ft. Carson from '70-'72, and prior to that flew dustoff with HHC 2/7th Cav., 1st Cav Div., Viet Nam, from '67-'68, 357th Med Bn, 1st Cav assigned to the 3rd Marines during '69 and with HHC 3rd BDE. 101st ABN DIV. Hello to all. I am looking for CWO Frank Wallace, PA from the 2nd Battalion in 81 - 83. I was a doctor at Ft. Campbell during the time and took care of a few of the Rangers who were hurt there during training. (I was an artillery FO in Vietnam with the 1st Inf. Div. in 1969 and went back to medical school when I returned.) After the C-130 accident in the desert (I have the details), where Rangers and men from the 160th Aviation Bn. from Ft. Campbell were killed, I was given a call from Frank (2nd Bn.) to see if I could help. The Bn Surgeon had been one of those killed. I hadn't made a parachute jump for 13 years. I got requalified the next week and spent two years "attached" to the 2nd Bn until a new doctor could be qualified and up to speed. I was privileged to serve with the medics and men that were assigned to this great Ranger unit. I would love to hear from any of the medics and CWO Wallace. They kicked me out of the service after 34 years. Welcome home, Steve

Crazy Dave! There are many out there like You/Us, you know the old saying, they may take us out of the Rangers but you can never take the Ranger out of us. :) I had an unfortunate accident years ago that took me out of the Rangers and sent me to the 25th Dimension in Hawaii, where I not only realized the sad state of regular units, but how lacking the training was for many good men. I saw E-4's and 5's for that matter that could not navigate their way out of a PX let alone call for fire or anything. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to "Give something to them they had never experienced. Methods and Guidance and just good ole leadership skills, getting rid of their lets look good attitude and actually be functional with what we got. I was actually proud to go to a leg unit and share the knowledge, its what Rangering is really meant to be about. However on the other hand you get a lot of rejection because many dont want you to so called "exceed their knowledge" so you tend to take heat from many E5 and up that are there like its a vacation or somewhere to hide out. I concur watching the Bologna on TV infuriates me at times seeing the crap and knowing many of us so called old farts could brush up a little and unleash a big Can of it upon them. It’s a shame though that things are so PC now a days, we would not be able to do the things we would like without having an F.O watching out for the news cameras pointed at us. People want to be safe but they don’t want to face the grim realities of what it takes sometimes. They find it barbaric when I got out of the service I knew I could no longer do the pushups etc because of a nasty shoulder injury from which i did not recover but I learned to use my mind instead and continue to feel the military should consider some kind of program where us so called broke dicks at least could be cadre. Many of us have the knowledge in our heads from past experience that we could share with the young energetic to give them a little more than they get today. I agree though, we should unleash, go back to the wild west style, hell maybe they would think twice if they thought I might be able to draw a little quicker :) Maybe we should round up all the criminals in our prison system that drains our pocket books and give them a complimentary one way flight and say good luck! heheh For some of us It don’t get any easier, many feel they will always belong with their men, I know I do and the hardest reality for me is knowing that "point and click" is with a remote control for the most part. But hey I like your attitude on the topic, try not to put your SOG's through the TV screen, its tough I know. heheh but if you get that Team together I'm in!

Anyone like me- tired of sitting around talking about being hooah? My girlfrineds son comes back from Iraq in one week. He said (and as anybody who watches the news knows) that the convoys and patrols are getting shot up every day. They are not being supported by infantry units. I wonder if a few squad-sized elements of former Rangers would make a difference? It's the Wild West over there. I'm looking to go over and play for awhile. Anyone else wana go?

I served with RECONDO Brigade @ Ft. Lewis, 1974 to 1976. This was under Col. Bernard Leofke. I think this is how it was spelled. May I request any and all assistance in locating my past AIT, company commander, Capt. Max V. Terrian? If anyone knows where I would find this credit to the Ranger title, please contact me. I would like to ask if the Capt. recalls a Korean soldier discharging a M-16 into my ear while I was speaking with him the summer of 1974. Please contact at jk6@sbcglobal.net. Thank you in advance

Brothers: On this date, Feb 22nd, in 1971, my heart was seared and my mind pained as I jumped from my C&C chopper to climb down the triple canopy to reach SSG "Dutch" Sorrell's team. The cry of "contact" over the radio moments before had been overshadowed with the sobering and sobbing report by the RTO of the death of Edward E. Scott. My agony was momentarily displaced with rage when the team leader screamed over the radio for an immediate vector to the nearest extraction site and that he could not retrieve the body because it would be suicidal. I had vowed to myself that I would do everything possible not to lose a man in my platoon. Now, I vowed I would not leave behind the body, so I jumped. A combination of rage and adrenaline enabled little me to carry the 6'1" lifeless temple through the wait-a-minute vines to the extraction clearing. Despite the protests of both the Huey crew and the bawling team members to just leave, I hovered above the crime scene until I completed a fire-for-effect artillery mission. Devastating that unholdy ground did not placate my gut-wrenching agony. The first thing I did upon returning to the States was to visit the Scott family to personally extend my condolences. Mr & Mrs Scott never blamed me--nor did they blame their country. Despite their grief, they were proud of their hero son, who paid the ultimate price in defense of the ideals they instilled in him. Until their own natural deaths, Mr & Mrs Scott treated me like a son and sent Christmas gifts every year to each of my three children. I am pained that the citizens of this great country never accorded the Viet Nam Veteran with the appropriate dignity of a celebrated hero and champion. However, I am also pained that so few will reflect on the death of "Scotty." Edward E. Scott was only barely eighteen when he was slain. Even his own teammates hardly knew him because he had only been in Charlie Company for five days before going out on his cherry mission. He volunteered; he wanted to be one of the best; he wanted to be a Ranger. He is our Brother Ranger. He willingly placed himself in mortal danger. He gave his life for you and for me. Only, he was not with us long enough to be someone's best Ranger-Buddy. He was not with us long enough to be remembered by many. He was with us long enough to be one of the Best, a Ranger.

Hey Nick, something is wrong with your web/site brother. It thru this dinosaur into a wall and I got a big 'WOAL' error. It is also in German and the weirdest shit in it. Other than that, I remember 4th PLT, but we were either Out when 4th was 'In', or In when you were 'Out'. We'd go heavy with 1st PLT, and a couple times were only out 1 day and when we'd get evated and the adren was too high and we'd be itchy finger'd to do anything but unwind, so we didn't socialize much. I got there in late September 1969, then had my choice of 101worst or 173d N/co. Choose the 'HERD' cause I wanted to be in the middle of it like the fool I was at 21 years of age. There are a few of D/151st bums in here, but don't recall any from 4th PLT. Got any pics from that time? Send me a couple and will send some back, I got a shit load from the Christmas and New Years Party....hehehe Marciano

It is great to have contact with so many former brothers in arms and to see the heroic efforts of our Rangers in action in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places. It is sad to see the enormous price we pay in lives, but I fully realize that Freedom is not free! I also know that my fellow Rangers realize this and have always been willing to lead the way! God Bless each and everyone and may we not forget one another while we are absent from each other.

I would like to explain my action as well as i can . On the Ranger training brigades web site you will see that from class 3a of 1973to class 1 of 1985 ,The ranger training brigade used the flag of the 75th RANGER Infantry for every class picture. Then they started using a company flag. later on they used a Ranger traing brigade flag, and now the don' use any flag for the graduating class.I'm deeply sorry for saying what i did about the Ranger tab. The Ranger tab is a sign of excellance, for those soldiers who were able to forgo the rigerous mental and phisical training that the school precented to the student. But, the Ranger tab is a school award .Not a combat award. I have a picture of me holding a military copy of the Ranger creed , that Col.John J Ellis took off of his wall at the 2nd Ranger battalion ,at Fort Lewis ,that shows the Ranger scroll that the US ARMY could and rightfully should award to the Viet Nam LLRP/LRP/RANGER 75th Infantry sence the Ranger department flew our flag for over 10 years before they formed the 75th RANGER REGIMENT. I think the picture of the Ranger Creed that I have and the class pictures of the graduating classes of the Ranger school should be enough linkage to show that we deserve the 75th RANGER INFANTRY scroll. I will send a copy of this picture to anyone who might be interested. P/co 75th 69 / 12th group 84. Have a day ranger hume out

I have been trying to secure a combat patch for the lrrp/lrp/75 airborne ranger companies that surved in Viet Nam. In 1997 there was a ranger board meeting, where three of our members attended along with ranger Bob Black ,from the korean ranger assn. Concerning the (RANGER TAB). The board decided unanimously that the Viet Nam RANGERS of the 75th should be awarded somthing to show our combat Ranger duty. they were suppose to send the recomendation to the (Comendant of the Infantry School),Does anyone know who that person was ? The Infantry school or the Ranger school haven't done anything to help us out as of yet. I wrote to President Bush and sent all the history of ours that (sua sponte.com) has on their web site, asking him to award us a combat patch that we could call our own. President Bush did not answer me on this matter. Only after numerous E-mails ,did i get a letter from a col. that was signed by a major. the letter said that the ranger department had gone through this before ,and nothing further would be done concerning our (RANGER status. If you go to the RANGER SCHOOL web site you will see their socalled fact sheet , That you and I know is bull shit. Also look at their class pictures and you will see that,(Class 3 of 1973 is shown with the (RANGER 75 flag).THEY were not the 75th rangers .(WE WERE).The RANGER department and Infantry school not only stole our battle honor's and our unit insignea ,But they give it to every unit or person that wears that pease of shit they call a coveted tab. We were (combat rangers) The most decorated in the history of this country ,and they can't take that away from us.We Nam LLRP/LRP/RANGERS did lead the way and did a dam good job of it .The only way we will be get a combat patch that they can't steel from us is to come together as a united Ranger unit, and write a true history of all the companies of the 75 Infantry so the people can see how we were and still are being shit on ,by the ranger comunity. I'm getting tired of carying this rucksack by my self .I need your help. We did lead the way and we still can with your help. RANGER HUME OUT.

Fellow Rangers, The question of our era's Scroll for the Vietnam Conflict, being approved has not been addressed as of present time. The Ranger tab board did recommend such an item (TO BE SUBMITTED)for such an award. However, that has not been published to the General membership. I ask that for such matters concerning US Army policy the question possed to the questbook be addressed to the Secretary or President of the 75TH RRA, who may or may not have an anwser or at least guide you on or quest.
