I am looking for Sgt Hill, Ranger 1st Battalion. He was wounded in Afghanistan in August of 2007 with his team. We remained in contact by phone and e mail until February of 2008. His last letter to me he was at Ft Knox and was he was coming home to be with me when he recovered. I promised I would never give up and would always be there. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello to all who have served and currently serving. Rangers of November Company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, plan to be at the reunion in August. We had 37 members at the last one so if you are planning to attend, let me know. I've up-dated the Master Member List 1965-1971 again to include member years in N/CO LRP/LRRP and sending it out. We are still in need of photos of some of our Fallen Heroes. Also help Kelly with the Unknown in his website for the Herd Rangers. Mike Hines, it's good to know that your back on Radio-Relay with the new computer.

Recognize a couple of names from the '08 postings. Paul "Skip" Beckwith and Don Giannattasio. Paul, I have an old photo of you, Joe Simon and me at English circa June '68. Talk to John Kelner on occasion and he's still going strong. It was good to see your names and know you're still around. Brings back memories of action and fun - looking the grim reaper in the face and laughing at him. The essence a LRP/Ranger I suppose. My best to all.

November 11/08 was Remembrance Day up here in the Great White North. As the Canadian Veterans honored their fallen brothers with fine ceremonies. The pain of their losses were worn on their faces.I spent the Day reflecting upon the extraordinary Rangers I have worked for and beside.Though I have lost touch over the years, I remember well all of those great men.I was fortunate to know many a Dirty Tired Ranger/LRRPs that hopped off of the Slicks worn out to the man returning from the difficult Rangerin Op's they unselfishly executed through out South East Asia a life time ago.Mostly I reflected on our brothers that will forever stay young and the Rangers and SpecOps that are unaccounted for to this day.Though I know in my heart they are all well in the company of Great Rangers of the past.Standing proud around the campfire upon the Fiddlers Green, hoisting a canteen cup of brew with a Hooah! In honor of the many successes our young Ranger brothers have accomplished these recent years. We the living must also share a toast and shout loud enough the Ranger in the sky hears us from our earthly homes "you make us proud Rangers".So to all my Ranger/LRRP brothers of all era's. As I lift my canteen cup, here is a toast to the Ranger Brotherhood! HOOAH!!Rangers Lead The Way!!!!Airborne!!!!!

Served in HHC & D 4/503rd Infantry, 173d Airborne Brigade. Deployed to Viet Nam on 6 June 1966, aboard the USNS Gen. John Pope. In our BN were Raul Santiago, Reed Cundiff, SSG Kaiiama, Laszlo Rabel, and 1LT Dan Severson. Raul Santiago passed away from cancer in 2006, SSG Rabel received the Medal of Honor, and LTC Severson commanded the 2nd BN/75th Rangers when he retired. I'm now a Board member of the 173d Airborne Brigade National Memorial Foundation and our sole mission is to build a 173d Memorial on a piece of American soil. We have selected Ft. If anyone was at Ranger Rendezvous 2003, you probably remember hearing about a couple guys getting struck by lightning on Lawson Army Airfield. I was that guy. I was a Squad Leader at the time and wasn't even supposed to be at work that day since my platoon had just gotten back from Afghanistan. I volunteered to be a Safety for the jump since no one else wanted to. It was a direct hit (100 million to 1 billion Volts and 70,000 Amps). I was dead for nearly an hour before I was revived, and had a miraculous recovery. Although I recovered a lot physically, I was left with amnesia and short term memory loss. I tried to stick it out, but after 2 and a half years of trying to retrain, I realized it just wasn't going to work anymore. I couldn't retain any new information I was taught and couldn't really remember any of my training before the strike. I finally decided to take a medical retirement. I'm currently living in Huntsville, Alabama with my wife and son. I just wanted to get on here to see if I could connect with any guys in my area, or get back in touch with old friends from the glory days. I don't remember a lot of people, so if you know who I am, please get in touch and refresh my memory. To all who are still active duty, keep up the good work and don't ever lose sight of the Ranger objective. RLTW. -Martin J. Patterson

My name is Ron Wilkinson. I went to Viet Nam 12/25/69 with the 4th. I served near Plieku until abour March of 70. I was given the privlege of serving with K Co. 75th Inf - LRRP. I was WIA, (shot through hip on right side,) on Aug 16, 1970. Our team was attacked late at night. I think I was the only LRRP casualty. I remember so little of that night. Can anyone help me put the pieces of that night together. I was not Ranger qualified. I was proud to serve alongside. I remember some names: Sgt Moody or Moony, Bill Volkov, David Bachaurt(sp?), Tom Nixon. Also I spent some time at American Lake VA in the mid 80's with C. Renfro. God bless!

Just want to acknowledge the 28th anniversary of Operation Eagle Claw April 25th, 1980. God Bless those who gave their lives, those who served and continue to serve. One night long ago, in the desert Rangers along with other Spec.Opns. soldiers and airmen, after some five months of planning, organizing, and rehearsing, attempted to rescue the hostages held in Iran. The efforts, energy, and enthusiasm was not diminished even after the code to abort. The crash was an explosion, but not only was the mission over, the new modern era of Special Operations as we know it today was born! Hoorah! RLTW, Jim Kinney C/1st/75th Ranger Nov.'78-Nov.'80

I am trying to find Jim Steele or anyone else that might have known John Jakovac. The following is a note I tried to send Jim, but the email address was old. If anyone wants anymore background, please drop me or my daughter Allison a line at cjohnston2(replace this)cox.net.

Jim, Chris Johnston here. We contacted each other a few times back in the 90s re John Jakovac. Back before email and computers were so widespread.

My daughter is now doing a project in Senior year english on him. I had some of your old xeroxed pictures of you and others waiting to be picked up for a mission and she thought they might be good to add on a slide about LRRP ops (we have a couple of helo shots too). Anyway, we were wondering if you had a scan or digital version of any of those shots that you could email us that would be better than the xeroxes I have.

Also, enclosed are some shots from Wayne Lund of some of the 3rd/25th LRRPs from 67 (some prior to Team 3As loss on 30 May 67). Can you identify any of them? We compared some to the Jakovac pictures we have (I saw Jakovac1 on a memorial site, http://www.cacti35th.org/regiment/kia/kia_details.php? person_id=630&battalion=BDE. It implies someone might have pictures of him). We thought the guy lower right in LRRP2 and upper left in LRRP3, and far left in LRRPs6 might be him, but someone else said that was LT Clark.

Anyway, hope you are well, and if you can help with any of the above, Allison and I would appreciate it. Chris and Allison Johnston

Dear Rangers, Please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself: My name is Roger Hendrixson, I am 47 years old and live in Landing, New Jersey. Perhaps you can assist me.

I have begun to research the Ranger's participation in Operation Urgent Fury, and would like to compose a short email interview with a Ranger or Rangers who took part in the operation. There is much written about the drop to Salinas and the rescue of American students. However I have not been successful in finding any interviews from Rangers participating in the mission.

At this point I would like to hear from them, and speak of what it was like during the days leading up and following October 25th. 1983. My intention is to very discrete, only to use the replies for my own personal use, and to communicate in a meaningful way with some of the men involved. From what I have been able to find, most American's recall very few details about Urgent Fury. When I ask, the most common reply is, "Sorry I don't remember it."

I believe there is more to this neglected piece of history. and have assembled a very nice collection of Ranger / Grenada materials, books and internet files. Would you be so kind as to forward this email to those who you believe would be interested in speaking with me. My email is: bainc83(replace this)hotmail.com

Sincerely, Roger Hendrixson

Greetings Old Hoooahs out there. Just got back from Savannah at St Patrick's day, not the same without being in the BN. Of course, being 20 years older has something to do with that as well.

Proud to see all the press on the Regt in the media. I'm really proud of the Regt and all we stand for in life and military service. We got some press in the new book, "Lone Survivor" and others.

I think back, those were the best 4 years of my life was in the Ranger BN, followed by two great years in Colorado 4th ID LRSD, and then 4 years in IA Nat. Guard LRSD (Camp Dodge). Now I'm a civilian, out of shape, and over-paid compared to our servicemen and women. Anyway, hope all of y'all are having a great spring.

I am proud to have served with the rangers.Becoming a Ranger was the single mot exhilerating time of my life. Also, looking for jungle school cook Jimmy Gibson and also, looking for anyone who arrived in Cam Rahn Bay april 9, 1968 who witnessed an accidental shooting in the barracks while awaiting orders to ship out. He was shot by a solider sitting on the bottom bunk who was given orders not to load weapon, and he loaded his weapon anyway and it fired thru the bunk into the back of my friend on the top bunk. He was rushed to the hospital and I never saw him again, I do not know his name or weather he survived or not. I sat by him on the 18 hour flight from the usa to cam rahn bay. If anyone knows about this incident please contact me at 318-435-0181. Also, does anybody that was stationed at an khe vietnam know the name of the bartender who served in the officers club and served with the military police. He was know as "Dittle" I think he was in the 5th calvery and was a tunnel rat for 2 years. I am looking for him but do not know what his full name is and I need to locate him as I have been diagnosed with chronic ptsd by three doctors and I need to substantiate my claim with the government for my benefits. I really need you guys out there to help me as I have severe memory loss today. By the way I was a cook also at the jungle school mess hall in 173rd airborne. God Bless America and all of you guys that served with me. Love you guys.

30 years have passed since I left the mighty 1st Bn at Ft Stewart. As we all know such association has a lifelong effect on all of us. The word Ranger is well known and respected wherever we go. I welcome any contact from those who were there when it began in 1974 at Camp Swampy..

(from Steve Ernst) Pray for McDonald Don Valentine. Don has suffered a heart attack while on a trip to Knoxville. He has four significant blockages. He will be undergoing open heart surgury tomorrow. The doctor's say his chances of surviving the operation are less than 50% due to complications with other health issues. Please keep Don and his wife in your prayers.
